AEF ANNOUNCES FOUR WINNERS OF
2005 AEF FELLOWSHIPS
Washington, D.C. – The Asian Pacific American Bar Association Educational Fund (AEF) is pleased to announce that four outstanding law students have been chosen to receive 2005 AEF Fellowships. The 2005 AEF Fellowships, totaling approximately $13,700, will support the students’ summer internships in public interest law.
AEF President Sabrina Underwood praised the 2005 AEF Fellowship recipients for their commitment to public interest work: “Each of our 2005 AEF Fellows should be recognized for their accomplishments in law school and their extracurricular activities, and for their dedication to public service.”
The prestigious 2005 Anheuser-Busch Norman Y. Mineta Fellowship is awarded to Tritia Yuen, who is a law student at American University, Washington College of Law. Ms. Yuen will work for the International Justice Mission in Washington, D.C.
AEF is awarding a Fellowship to Christopher Lee, a student at the University of Arizona, for his work with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, in the Office of Commissioner Stuart Ishimaru in Washington, D.C.
Nagasilpa Jujjavarapu, a student at the George Washington University Law School, will receive an AEF Fellowship for her work in the Domestic Violence and Family Law division of Ayuda, Inc. in Washington, D.C.
Christine Lao, a student at American University, Washington College of Law, will receive an AEF Fellowship for her work with FINCA, International in Washington, D.C.
AEF, a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, has been providing fellowships since 1993 to law students who accept unpaid internships in the non-profit or public sector. The fellowship recipients provide critically needed services to the Asian Pacific American community and the Greater Washington, D.C. community-at-large.
